Where does your tax money go?
If there's one thing most New Jerseyans can agree on, it's that property taxes are too high.
Here's a tool to help you crunch last year's property tax bills from each of New Jersey's 566 municipalities. The data, which divides property tax bills by municipal, county and public education costs, was compiled from numbers released by the state Department of Community Affairs. The total levy represents the amount raised by each municipality.
You can search for your town's 2010 tax bill or sort each category by clicking on its name.
